Welcome to the OVPSC
Bronze Show Circuit News for 2016
That through experience gained at our shows, competitors are prepared to compete at Bronze and beyond. By encouraging horses and riders to develop confidence and obtain experience in a safe environment, we provide a means in which to learn how to compete. By having courses designed by trained, licensed course designers and judged by Equine Canada sanctioned and accredited judges. By continuing to offer paramedic coverage second to none. In our area, most Bronze shows are run in conjunction with a Silver/Trillium show, at these shows riders can become familiar with the expectations of the next level circuit and know when they are ready to move up. This is what sets the Bronze/OVPSC circuit apart from other events aren’t sanctioned and don’t have the same safety measures and consistencies in place for the benefit, safety and education of the horse and rider.
Welcome to our OVPSC Bronze show circuit. On behalf of your Executive Committee and all of the show managers, we would like to thank you for continuing to compete at our shows, and to support our circuit. This year has brought another change of faces to the Executive Committee, and we would like to welcome Stephanie Cowperthwaite aboard as one of our Directors at Large. At this time we would like to thank Pia Thomas for her contribution on the Executive Committee over the years, most recently as Director at Large. Pia has been an important asset to the committee and we hope that she will continue to offer us her suggestions and support. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lindsey Weatherhead again this year for her assistance in securing all of the sponsorship for the annual banquet, and for continuing to be our points chairperson.
The OVPSC welcomes show photos from our region on our Facebook page, as well as any questions that you may have. The Eastern Ontario Trillium Circuit’s website (eotc.ca) continues to include the OVPSC, and this year the EOTC anticipates more regular updates as a source of information for all competitors of both circuits.
The 2015 show season was an overall positive one for the OVPSC; the circuit grew, received few complaints, and the average number of competitors per division throughout the season was up from the previous year. The decision to carry forward with the forgiven missed lead changes in Ring 3 remained a success, but it was noted that judges need to continue to be made aware of this exception. The addition of the Intro to Jumper division did not have the expected entries which was thought to be due to the ring location of the classes (Hunter Ring) and the scheduling (end of day). While the combining of the Pre-Novice Hunter and Novice Hunter worked for some shows with smaller entries, it did end up being split out into two divisions at the majority of shows. There will be a few changes to the divisions offered in 2016 so please see the list of pointed divisions and individual prize lists for all changes.
Every owner and rider showing on the OVPSC Bronze circuit must have a 2016 OEF membership and a Bronze EC membership. Temporary sport licenses will NOT be available for purchase at 2016 competitions but annual licenses will be available for purchase. Competitors who cannot provide proof of current and valid EC Bronze Sport License, and choose not to purchase one that day, CANNOT COMPETE. Any questions regarding memberships can be directed to any executive member. We strongly encourage you to purchase your memberships in advance of any competitions.
Entries cancelled after the closing date but more than 24 hours before the start of the horse show without a veterinary certificate will be required to pay the administrative fees, applicable scratch fee, and applicable stabling fees plus HST. Entries cancelled less than 24 hours before the start of show day or on show day will not be refunded. Entry fees will only be refunded on presentation of a valid medical or veterinary certificate before the show for which entries were made; administrative fees are non-refundable. Once a horse has entered the show grounds, there will be no refund unless authorized by the show committee. Any classes/divisions entered but not completed will be charged. You may change from one class and replace by another, or change from one division to another at no additional charge. Competitors who do not show up and do not cancel their entries will be charged full entry fees plus HST. All unpaid fees will be considered an outstanding account until paid in full. Competitors and/or horses may not enter another OVPSC horse show until these outstanding fees have been paid in full.
**Please read all official and final schedules carefully, as this year “orders of go” are different from last year with changes to divisions and in an attempt by all of the show managers to shorten the competition days. Remember that SILVER divisions can still be entered; however, without the appropriate sport license and passport, the temporary sport license fees will apply and points will not count towards year end awards.
Show Mate – Online Entries
Please take advantage of the ease of submitting your entries online through Show Mate, as all competitions will be using it again this year. Once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever used to fax them in!
Year End Awards
Points are awarded to all exhibitors who place at an OVPSC Bronze horse show. Although it is permissible to compete in an under saddle class of a performance division, these points are not eligible for championship calculation nor for year-end inclusion. You must attend four OVPSC Bronze shows to qualify and your top 8 competitions will count towards year-end calculations. Champion, Reserve Champion, Third, Fourth, and Fifth place will be recognized. Optional classes or divisions offered at four or more shows will qualify for circuit award inclusion.
